A Bit About Me

Player Development Coach

Austin Banks began his high school career at Wekiva High School and later transferred to Eustis High. From there, he went on to play four years at Iowa Wesleyan University. His name will forever be stitched into program history as he is currently 8th all time in school history for assists and led the conference in assists during back-to-back seasons in 2019 & 2020. His playing and leadership led him to be a three-year Team Captain.
After finishing college and earning his degree, Austin's love for the game led him to return to Wekiva High to coach and was the Varsity Assistant Coach for three years. In each of these seasons, the program has made drastic improvement, including a district championship appearance and a Final Four playoff appearance.
Now, Austin has become a Skills and Development coach in the Orlando area, where his commitment and knowledge for the game have led over 19 high school players to commit to multiple colleges at different levels.

Austin has helped numerous athletes enhance their skills and mental toughness, both in Orlando and beyond. Notable athletes he's worked with include Keon Ellis of the Sacramento Kings, Tyler Johnson from Virginia Tech, Kaiden White from Marshall, and Geovanna Rios of the Puerto Rican National Team, among others. Coach Austin is dedicated to helping you reach your fullest potential, both on and off the court.

In a new chapter of his coaching career, Austin has recently taken on a role as a coach at John Wood Community College in Quincy, Illinois. His transition into coaching at the collegiate level has been a rewarding one, as he continues to share his passion and extensive knowledge of the game with a new generation of athletes. Austin’s leadership, dedication, and insight have made him an invaluable addition to the John Wood coaching staff. Known for his commitment to player development, Austin has quickly earned the respect of both his players and colleagues. His coaching philosophy emphasizes not only improving athletic ability but also fostering a strong mental game and a sense of teamwork. Through his efforts, Austin aims to help his athletes excel both on and off the court, preparing them for their futures, whether they continue playing or pursue other career goals. His work at John Wood is a natural extension of his lifelong passion for the game and his dedication to helping young athletes reach their full potential.
